It took forever to get my husband to FL (too many hurricanes) then after we’re here, I thought I’d never get to the Keys! What’s so special about the Keys?
It’s just the closest and easiest substitute for going to the islands! Yes, there are some major differences, but when your only concern is abundance of water and beaches, it works.
This trip was last month, August, when we had a week to play around and do nothing. I actually stayed off my computer for about 4 consecutive days. Was able to forget all about it!
It was wonderful! Everyone we met was great! All were wanting to make sure that our visit was fun and memorable. We hit sooo many of the local beaches, that we felt like experts when we left!
I did three studio visits while we were there (the reasons for going!) Absolutely flawless! Ladies you were great! and they were so much fun! When they’re posted, be ready to be informed and entertained by:
- Feather Artist, Anne Schroeder
- Neo-Gyotaku Artist, Kim Workman and
- Mural and buoy Artist, Carol Cox
I’ll tell you more about these amazing women artists later as I get closer to posting their interviews.
I want to tell you a little bit about the Keys. If you haven’t been there and you love beaches and laying back in your lounge chair, in the water, you’ve got to go. It is so cool! and the ocean water is so pretty! But watch out for the jellyfish!
After you leave the mainland, you pass through quaint looking small towns all the way to Key West. Then it’s big city living again!
Stop at any of the small Visitor Centers to get information about the local area. All the Keys are interesting.
Key Largo is the 1st stop. – North America’s only living coral barrier reef is to the east! It’s the Diving Capital of the World and great for eco-tourists!
Islamorada
“Sport Fishing Capital of the World”. Also recognized for its great sports diving locations.
I’ll tell you about the other three Keys in the next post.
